A Birth Doula is a professional who is trained in childbirth and provides continuous emotional and physical supports to a mother and her family before, during and after birth. A Postpartum Doula cares for the mother and her family at hospital/home in the first weeks/months. Including breastfeeding support, infant care, light household chores and so on. Birth/Postpartum Doula provides non-medical support, evidence based information and companionship. Birth Doula Support
One Complimentary Prenatal Meeting. After our initial meeting, I will have 3 prenatal visits (2 hours each). This gives us a chance to get to know each other! My Doula support includes Spinning Babies® Birth Preparation Class! I will provide the information and techniques of Spinning Babies® to get ready for your physiological birth. Spinning Babies works® for both unmedicated and medicated births. The support includes a digital download of Parent Class:$26.99 and Daily Essentials:$16.99 and access to the Spinning Babies® materials. 1st Visit: We will discuss Spinning Babies. To understand Spinning Babies, physiological birth, and practice Spinning Babies® exercises and body balances. 2nd Visit: We will discuss just-in-case scenarios, such as water break, back labor, overdue, scheduled induction, unplanned cesarean, and so on. Making your birth preferences. 3rd Visit: We will discuss the best-case scenarios with practicing variety of comfort measures (Position, Massage, Breathing, Acupressure, TENS unit, Peanuts ball, etc.) . Continue to practice your body balance. Breech Consultant: After 30 weeks, if your baby is breech or transverse, we'll have an additional meeting and try breech exercises, and acupressure & Moxa if you prefer. On THE BIG Day: whenever you feel you are in labor, please text/call me 24/7. I will provide information with encouragement at the early stage. When your contractions are close (about 7 minutes apart) and regular (for 1 hour or so), I will come over to your place/hospital and provide emotional, physical, and informational supports to your entire family. I will suggest when we should be going to the hospital or birth center. I will come with you and provide continuous supports during the labor physically and emotionally until you see your baby. I will support the initial breastfeeding and take basic pictures of the baby’s first moment. I will stay 1~3 hours after baby is born. Postpartum Follow-up: I will come to visit you once again. Offers education, companionship and nonjudgmental support during the postpartum fourth trimester. Assists with breastfeeding, newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying. Offers evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and makes appropriate referrals when necessary Postpartum support includes: ● Help with the emotional and physical recovery after birth ● Breastfeeding support/bottle-feeding support ● Newborn care ● Encourages family bonding ● Offer a listening, non-judgmental ● Educational support and providing resources ● Infant Massage ● Spend time with the baby so family will have time to rest ● Baby’s laundry ● Light housekeeping ● Run errands and shop for groceries ● Assist in nursery organization/ set-up ● Prepare nutritious meals/ snacks Resources: DONA position papers on postpartum doulas Factors That Influence Postpartum Recovery by Penny Simkin Services: One prenatal meeting/free (complimentary) Postpartum care is offered in 2-7 hour shifts Hourly rate: minimum2 hours $55/hr.
